Private 1-on-1 Muay Thai Training review

What the session is like
You arrive at the FITFAC branch nearest your hotel. The coach (often Mos, Joe, or Jimmee) meets you and does a quick assessment of your fitness. You change into training gear and wrap your hands—the coach explains the wraps as you go. You start barefoot on the pads: stance first, weight distribution, balance. Then the jab, the cross, the teep kick. The coach calls out combinations and watches your form. You train at your own pace; if you need slower, they slow. If you want to go hard, they ramp it. The hour is intense, honest, and fast — a hard session burns 500+ calories. You shower, change, and keep the shorts as a souvenir.
What works
- One-on-one means the coach focuses entirely on your form, not the group
- The coaches (Mos, Joe, Jimmee) are professional fighters; they explain technique in detail
- English-speaking and patient with complete beginners
- You keep the handmade shorts — a real souvenir
- Gloves, wraps, shower, and lockers all included
- Air-conditioned and modern
Worth knowing
- One hour is enough to learn the basics, not master them
- It’s intense — if you’re very unfit, tell the coach and they’ll adjust
- Hotel pickup adds time; many branches are 10–20 minutes from central Bangkok
- Not for under-5s, pregnant women, or people with certain injuries
Usually included
- 1 hour private 1-on-1 session with a Thai fighter
- Handmade Muay Thai shorts to take home
- Gloves and hand wraps for the session
- Shower and changing room access
- English-speaking instruction
Not included
- Hotel pickup (available at additional cost; some branches near BTS/MRT)
- Food or drinks
- Extra private sessions (book separately)
If you’re booking right after a Rajadamnern fight night, aim for 9:00 or 10:00 AM — you’ll still have energy, and the coach can show you how the techniques you just watched actually work. Eat a light meal (rice or noodles) 2–3 hours before; only water in the last hour.
Who it’s for
Anyone curious after a fight night. If you’re wondering whether you’re too old, this hour will prove you’re not. Want a group setting? The $21 group class is equally good, and you train with locals and other travellers.

Frequently asked questions
Is $54 worth it for 1 hour?
Yes. You’re paying for a professional fighter’s one-on-one attention, handmade shorts, gloves, wraps, shower, and English instruction. At a tourist walk-in gym, you’d pay ฿300–600 (~$9–18) without the hand wraps or shorts. For a private session anywhere in Bangkok, $54 is fair.
Can beginners really do this?
Completely. The coach assesses your fitness on arrival and adjusts. No prerequisite fitness — you work at your own pace. The hour is designed to teach stance, jab, and teep, not kill you.
Do I keep the shorts?
Yes. They’re handmade and a real souvenir. The gloves and wraps are for the session only.
Which FITFAC branch should I choose?
Book the branch nearest your hotel or closest to a BTS/MRT station. All 11 branches have the same coaches and format; the location is the only difference.
